inspirations etc.

just a moment of nodding to favorites and inspirations of late. As ive mentioned before...ive been looking at the Group of Seven again, but not through their art...more so their place in Canadian art and even more directly, their place in Toronto, circa 1910-25. Please check out Defiant Spirits_The Modernist Revolution of the Group of Seven. There is a major retrospective of the Groups work opening in the UK this week at Dulwich Picture Gallery
Another painter i have been forever inspired by is the Russian born Nicolas De Stael This past summer i had the delight of stumbling across a collection of his work at the Musee des Beax Arts Dijon. I came across De Stael when i was 15 through my fascination with painter/rock and roller Stuart Sutcliffe It was through him that i think i knew i was going to be a painter. He has his own story which you may or may not already be familiar with.
And lastly i wish i could think and see and paint like this. Facebook informed me that it was her birthday today so im saluting her.
keep in touch and enjoy some inspiration.

Just an update with some new paintings ive rescued from a deep dark cave. ive blown off the dust and have them available in he studio. There is a slight chance i might be doing the OOAK Show. A few paintings left over from the Last CFNS show exhibition as well so im at least covered for bigger pieces. That being said, ive got to get tucked into alot more smaller paintings. enjoy...
